    ID-Question on an Brazilian Mauser M 1908

Hello to all, i have a question about a regimental disk and a marking in the buttstock from this Mauser rifle. What means that? Also interested on the age of the rifle Nr.: 6793.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Gunner

Gunner, I think the mark on the disk is the Greek letter "eta" or e. It matches the "etas" on my Brazilianicon. It is not a 3, which would have a straight top (look at the figures on the backsight slide for an example of a 3, they have the same style as the rifle number).

Look at the other parts of your Brazilian, you will find most of them marked with a Greek letter somewhere. As far as I know these Greek letters were inspection/approval marks in the production - so that disk has no regimental information.

The B in a circle on a signal flag is something different. All Brazilians I have seen up to now had the B inside a six-pointed star, which is the normal Brazilian property mark, and has NOTHING to do with Israel.

If the B in the six-pointed star is the property mark of the Brazilian Army, then my guess is that the B on a signal flag indicates the Navy. But that is merely a plausible guess, and if someone knows better I would be pleased to be corrected.

    Patrick

Thank you Patrick, yes this 3 is everywhere on the rifle to find also an`Ss`on the left side of the chamber. Your information is very helpful to me because i am not in the guess with Mauser`s. Shame on me, i am from Mauserland.

The flag mark on the stock appears to be a simple line drawing of the Brazilianicon flag with the letter B in the center. I have this same mark on a Brazilian 7mm Vz 24.
