SC vs. Rem vs. Winchester magazine springs
The magazine spring on my SC A3 has sprung; the bolt often over rides the top round in the magazine. Out of the rifle, it shows the classic W shape of a worn out spring. I bought some new, in the cosmoline
, springs advertised as "1903 mag springs". Upon cleaning, I find 1 is marked R for Remington & the others W for, I presume, Winchester and I also presume these are actually for a 1917 rifle. I notice there is a .25" difference in height of the middle fold of the spring between the Winchester & the Rem/SC (.25" higher) springs. Is this of any consequence? Are the Winchester springs serviceable in a 1903?
The picture shows the Remington spring in front, the Winchesters & the SC spring at the rear.
Thanks!

The Remington spring you have is also for a 1917 rifle. They will work in an '03-A3.

My avatar is a depression-era frontal photo of a mule wearing work jeans, suspenders, and a straw hat. See below.

More than likely, on Sunday morning, after a BUSY Sat. night , and just before retireing for the day!!
Somethings always seem fun at the time, but maybe not so much fun later.
Have a good weekend,
