Marine sights introduced and withdrawn in the 30's. Yes the sight folded down is 200 yards. The original sight, the Model of 1905, is calibrated for model 1903 ball. When changed to the 1906 cartridge they forgot to change the sight, resulting in the odd 547 yard zero. The difference with 1906, M1
, and M2 in my opinion is within the tolerance range of the sight. As a side note, the windage scale is in artillery mils. Go to julia's auctions, there are some cherry 1903's. On edit: Mr. Beard
is an advanced collector and author. It appears I was wrong about the dates of the Marine sights.
