Okay, this has been nagging at me for a few days.
Last week I passed on a fair condition 1938 SMLE. Gun was filthy, probably an import. Action was very loose. Finish was maybe 15%. Oil soaked stock. $200. This seemed a lot considering Century has no.4's for $170 right now (ordered one December 22...still waiting). Somebody set a quarter into the stock in place of the regimental disc (1977).
Good call to pass?
I also came across a Pattern 14 for $600 (I think that's what it was going for) that day, but I don't know enough about them to really consider it (and that's more than I'll pay for a surplus bolt-action anyway).Information
