Anyone have a trials cut off?

Hi all, I'm interested in a trials style magazine cutoff plate thats for sale online at a gun business in the Uk called Helstons. but alas they don't export outside of the UKicon. Do we have anyone on the forum with a mag cut off without the hole they'd be willing to part with? cheers Roger

    Alternative supplier?

    Hi Roger

Try Ds-Solutions.co.uk, (they have them listed for sale too)

I'm debating whether to get one for my 1924 No.1 Mk V, which looks all correct, but currently has a cut-off with the viewing hole.

    Kind regards

    Mike

Now to find that No1 MkV, grumble, grumble.... Where was it last?...grumble...

Dang, they're gone! Decided to get one and its no longer on the site! Errr. That didn't take 15 min. I hope that was you, RJW, getting the last one. Only four views last I checked.

    RJW,
If you want it, I will buy it from helstons and ship to you.?
I bought a mag cut off from DS Soloutions for my No 1 Mk V and was excellent, they do stock a lot of parts and would still drop them a line. Have mentioned them before on this forum they are an excellent and freindly company to deal with.

As a sideband comment, for anyone wanting to read a very good article about these magazine cut-offs, with thanks to Advisory Panelicon member Terry Hawker, check the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here).

This interesting article is accompanied by an extensive photo montage detailing the use and descriptions of the various of magazine cut-offs on Enfield Riflesicon.

Hi Rayg, Whether this helps a trials rifle I don't know but here goes.
You probably know my no1mk6 screw is no longer the same thread and the usual cut off screw won't do the job, but my solution thats works fine was to take the threads off with a dremel/file and just push the screw in the hole. To make it sit deeper than flush, which it needs to keep the far end of the screw in its bush/hole end I put a little ball of paper on the screw head and let the fore end close up on it. To get it back out it either falls out, or a magnet draws it out, with the cut off open so there's little tension on the screw. It even saves the original thread in the rifle for the future insertion of the correct unit.

Thanks to all for the suggestions about the trials cut off, I've been under the weather for a bit, so now I'm back to making a decision.
