03A4 scope ring screws
I think the Redfield base and rings on my 03a4 clone may be original (don't know how to tell the difference yet). Anyway the screws for the 3/4 inch rings are the right thread size for the holes drilled and tapped on my 03 sporter action. These screws appear to be color case hardened. Can some one please tell me what thread size these are. I need to order some for my sporter when I find out what kind of base fits on the action (Please see general discussion thread). Thanks, Mike

Mount Ring Screw
If i understand correctly you are looking for the spec on the mount ring screw. There are three of them and they serve to clamp the 3/4" rings to the tube.
On original mounts they are:
"screw, machine - s (slotted) Filisterhead, 0.1326-0.1370-48NS x.330" in length"
The bases on original A4's were secured with:
Filister head No. 8 - 40NS machine screws - .250" in the rear and .510" in the front.
Screws used on commercial mounts may be different from those used on military mounts (and rings).
Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim, I'll be ordering some 6-48's. That should do the trick.

youll need 8-40 screws for a 1903A3 Redfield base.
6-48 will be a bit too small.
