T99 sights

Hi All,
I would like to know if someone could direct me to a site or here somewhere where I could get a explaination on how to zero my T99 in.

I heard from some,"I think" it's zeroed at 300 yards, or use the half moon at 200, or military rifles are zeroed at 250 yards... and so on..

It's more a matter of shooting it and seeing how much (and where) to "hold off" at various ranges out to 300m or so. If the windage is good, then there's not much else you can do. (w/o going "Bubba", that is.)

Expect it to shoot about 8-12" high at 100yd if everything is normal.

You can't zero a rifle without shooting it. riceone

I bought a M99 on auction that had a "sewer pipe" bore that looked like it could never be saved. I worked it hard using the standard methods and got nothing out but a faint rust stain. I did an electronic cleaning on it using a lantern battery, a couple wires, alligator clips and an ammonia solution. Yielded nothing but when I hit it with the brush again massive amounts of rust came out. Once the rust seal was broken I was into the black and green goo and I used naval jelly and cleaned out enough of that to see some faint traces of rifling. I took it to the range and fired one round of my own ammo through it with a low powder charge. The case stuck in the receiver and when I knocked it out I found it pock marked and striped from all the irregularities inside the chamber, but the bullets passage had revealed a fair amount of rifling and I knew the bore was retrievable. I spent an hour every day after work for a week polishing the chamber and cleaning the bore with repeated electronic treatments and naval jelly. I finally got a little shine out of the old bastard and exposed some very respectable rifling. When I took it out to the range I was able to put 23 of 25 shots in the black on a 12 in "shoot and see target" at 100 yards. It didn't group very well but I have taken it out again since and it is starting to come together very well as I learn to use the sights, I was initially using the battle sight but find it much more accurate with the ladder up. It is really a fun rifle to shoot and I like the way it fits my hold. I can't believe the punch the flimsy looking spring puts out and I like the way the bolt disassembles /assembles, much easier to work with than the Mauser it is based on. I was going to send a picture of a target I shot with the rifle to the guy that sold it to me for $140. but I figured it would just be cruel and serve no purpose. Don't give up on those sewer pipes!!

Welcome, chefphillipe! Glad to hear you are making your T99 a working piece again. Generally, I shudder at the use of naval jelly on anything but gardening implements and such, but like any tool, if used carefully, it has it's advantages. In your case, it seems justified, providing you were able to keep it from the rest of the rifle.

I too, like the overall design; it's quite efficient and strong as well.
