    Love my 91/30!

Just got back from the range.

I was shooting my mosin at 60 yards from a bench with open sights, 6 o'clock hold and tired eyes. As you can see with my reduced load of 12gr. Red Dot and 135 grain Beartooth cast bullets I'm pretty much on the mark although I'm shooting slightly to the right it seems. This shows two five shot groups. The outside shots were from the first group, while the second five grouped at 3/4". I am getting some regular groups at around 1". I don't think I can do much better without a scope. I am curious what she might do topped with some glass.

I only know what I read, but I think I lucked out with my hex receiver Izzy refurb. My hats off to the folks at Beartooth Bullets for helping me choose the right load. I'm becoming a real fan of the reduced loads for plinking and target shooting up to 200 yards. Lots of shooting fun for a little bit of $$$ My Mosin is rapidly becoming one of my favorites. I know she's simple and plain, but seems with a little tweeking they can be real shooters.

One last question.... Has anyone out there used their Russianicon Mosin in a Vintage Match? Or maybe a Mosin postal match..... That would be a real blast. What do you think?

    Good shooting!

We use them at our service rifle matches on 100yards and they are good.

scoped mine to help me see the targets

I added a fixed 4X scope to my Mosin Nagant 91/30 just to help me see the target using my old eyes. With this setup I can consistantly shoot 3 shot groups that are sub 1" at 100 yards from the benchrest. Yes I'm qualify as an old f**t but I like shooting targets and I agree with you as my Mosin Nagant 91/30 is currently my favorite rifle.

Good shooting! My 91/30 is one of my favs. I dont get as good results as you did but I am using the czech surplus that always seems to have one flier in each group of five. The trigger on my 91/30 is not great, but better than my M38 carbine. Like shooting both though.

    91/30 trigger

I lucked out with the trigger on mine. Of course it's no target rifle and yes it's heavy, but mine is crisp and pretty smooth.
