I've got a doozy of a ? for Enfield Afficianados everywhere.
I've got a '43 Dispersal that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to get ahold of the elderly lady that took it to the pawnshop and try and find out some history on it (and get the magazine). It has no import marks, is all matching, and was slathered in cosmoline and was full of dust bunnies. I have several flavors of Enfields and thought this would be a nice addition. When I looked at it I saw the leather ? patch that was nailed on it and do not have a clue as to what it means. Does anyone have any idea whatsoever as to its meaning ? It's pretty darned accurate so I'm enjoying it and it has a space in my Enfield safe for good.

I'm guessing here but perhaps it was a club gun somewhere and whoever took it out had to zero it at 150yds?

Makes the most sense to me, anyway.
I have never encountered such a critter myself, but the day of the local long-range rifle society is long in the past around here, although it held on longer in some other places.
