    Announcement Another look at this

    M1icon Carbine Saginaw S’G’ Pristine Unfired Condition : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

I have been in contact with the seller and although he has purchased parts from George he claims none are on this carbine. He also said this is how he received the carbine. I told him some of what I saw:

Greg, thank you very much for the answer. There are a few reproduction parts on that carbine like the rear flip sight the front barrel band, the safety and some others. This is not uncommon but it sounds as if the seller to you may not have been telling the whole story with that carbine. I've been collecting for nearly 30 years so I know what I'm looking at. So do some of the collectors that are discussing this carbine. Please understand I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm trying to help you keep from getting in a jam if it is sold under that discription. Thank you again for your time and good luck with straightening this out.

    and:

Sorry Greg, the stock (and cartouche), butt plate and it looks as if the bolt are all reproduction as well. On the stock, the "I" cut oiler slot in in the wrong place and the incorrect size. The overall metal has been polished and refinished. That is evident with the roundedness of the logo and serial number (they should all be very crisp in their stamping). Again, I am not trying to be a jerk but mearly to point out what is incorrect.

Bill, if he is not willing to accept your honest help, then put him in the category of the sellers who knowingly sell questionable or humped weapons/parts. Seems to me that he knowingly wants to ignor the fact that his "advertisement" is not only inaccurate, but down right false.

You tried. I just hope whoever buys it knows that it is rebuilt.

    Just my two cents worth...

Here is the reply I received from the seller. I think he has been receptive. Not once has he gone postal on me.

"Thanks for the information. In my description I was 100% truthful on how I
received this Carbine and exactly what I did to it, degrease and oil the
stock. I have been a FFL dealer and gunsmith for over 35 years and did do a
few carbines in March and April for customers. George at Riverbank and a few
other sellers have supplied me with needed parts in the past and I will
continue to use them to satisfy my guys, with full disclosure of aftermarket
parts. I am not a Carbine collector nor due I know that much about them
except how they work. I would welcome any input on this weapon, I am not a
scam artist. I took this carbine out of the closet, wrapped in oiled paper,
from the dead vet's house paid the daughter for it and took it home on the 4th of July this year. This
is the gun under all the paper and grease that I have described in my
listing with no statement of originality because I'm not qualified to do
that. Please stay in touch and pass this information along to all the
Carbine boards and please send me their URLs so I can defend my integrity.
Thanks, Gregory Sparkman, US Army WO/4 ret."
