The Small Arms Chest for my No4T Has the following Weedon mark:

RSSD WEEDON Northants.

Plus:
FSO/EA/2866/43 OF 52
541/UK/897

Can any one decypher these markings?

It's a UK Military export order. Yours was crate 43 of 52 so some lucky nation had 53 of them! POD. Point of Departure. RSSD= Returned Stores Sub-Depot. ORDEP=Ordnance Depot. The remainder are transit numbers. You often find these series of numbers on old Bedford trucks that have been supplied to these foreign nations as mutual aid, such as Sierra Leone. The EN seems to be England............ The HA-5885 is odd because in the Ordnance system, HA is the prefix for a paint part number! Maybe the box was full of paint!

That's all I know!

Just asked someone in passing and FSO/EN is a foreign service order despatched from England. It MIGHT indicate to the shipper or freight forwarder at its destination that it is a purchase and not a gift
