    Talking Another No 5 question please

    What can you tell me about the forearm furniture with the metal forearm tip ?
    Most of the no 5s I have seen have the wood rounded off for the tip .

    Some had it, & some didnt.
    Of those that had it many had it removed as when the rifle was stored (in steamy jungle conditions) moisture ran down beneath the metal cap and caused corrosion and rot.
    The armourers would make good or replace any rotten forends and would leave the metal cap off.
    Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
