    The military really had only application for the double barreled shotguns and that was primarily for recreation. The double barrel wasn't really suited for arial training but that's not to say it never happened. Winchester and L.C. Smith also provided side by sides (double barreled) for the military. All of them are pretty scarce and pretty collectable. I thumbed through some of my books and couldn't find anything on Ithaca providing them but I'm not the expert and it all seems very plausible to me. Either way that's an amazing piece and I'm envious that you have one! As far as value goes, hard to say but like I said, they are pretty scarce as they were not procured in great numbers.
