    Schmidt Rubin 1911 stock question

Can someone tell me if an 1896 Mauser stock will work on a Schmidt rubin 1911. Bougt a 1911 at a garage sale for $75 rifle is in excellent shape an original except for the stock. Looking to restore it. Found a good 1896 swiss online looks close but was looking for a vioce of experience to help me. Will it fit?

Yes, but tell me about the stock on the 1911 you bought. Was it sporterized?

Are you dead certain its not a .308 conversion? Are there holes drilled in the receiver on the left side? Is there a stamp on the left side of the rear sight mount?

Is it a 96 Mauser stock or a 96 Schmidt stock you found?

No holes - no stamp only the S/N & swiss cross

As to stock, it is being advertised as a Mauser stock From the photos looks close to those online of the schmidt reuben.
