Mtman2 - RASHEED = almost factory new-never seen one close to its equal. Value??

Had it for many years + its been in a gun case 99.99% of the time. Semi retired now + want to do a little shooting . But a SKS or Saiga would be more appropriate . I now realize this gun would be better off with a collector. I've no idea what value to put on it now a days. It is better than very nice. I'd call it excellent. Egypt seems to be in the news alot lately! Saw a 42B auctioned the other day for $1,500.00 ? Only 2,000 Rasheeds made it to this country + this has to be one of the better ones. Only 8,000 were ever made. Any updates on this unit?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. The number of Rasheeds made flucuates from importer to importer. International Firearms, when it was in Montreal, advertised them as only 6500 ever made and that they had 5000 of them. Well, the more of them I see and they aren't very common, the more I'm convinced that there were a lot more of them than that. The serial numbers on them can go into the 50,000 range. Now, it is possible that only 8000 of them survived. They are decent reliable rifles and much handier than the Ag42 B rifles that came into the country. Their internal design is identical to their big brothers in 6.5x55 and 8x57.
An Agb 42 B, will bring around $400can. up here, if it's in excellent condition with kit and sling. If the bayonet is matching, maybe $500.

The Rasheed 7.62x39 was developed from Hakim in 8mm. which came from Swedishicon Ag42. in 6.5. Short lived rifles. I like the Hakim for it sends a 198 gr. bullet down range with low felt recoil. Back blast substantial. Values climbing as dollar falls. Gary
