    New 03A3 Stuck Trigger Guard

I picked up my new 03A3 today from the shop (FFL transfer) and boy she is beautiful. The only parts which aren't R marked are the stacking swivel (unmarked) and read sight base (Hadley tool co.) All the small parts are blued as well and the seller included the original bill of sale from the US Army in 1957 from Raritan Arsenal in NJ. I was trying to disassemble the rifle and I can't seem to get the trigger guard out. It feels like there is another screw holding it in, but based on the parts diagrams and instructions on surplus rifle, it should pop right out. Any suggestions on how to pop it out? I don't want to jam a screw driver between it and the wood and damage the stock and pushing from the top end by depressing the follower and spring doesn't seem like a good idea either. Thanks!

There's one screw in the front and one in the back. If you can't get it that way, take the top part off first and then get to it from the top.

Forgot to mention I did remove the screws before the first try. I got it out on the second with a little bit of coaxing. Thanks
