German leverlock knife

I ran across this leverlock knife that I bought in 1990. Super strong spring. Paid $100 at the time. Thought it was cool. But it has sat in a box for over 20 years. Thinning out some stuff and would like to put it up for sale on WTS. Does anyone know anything about it or what a current value might be?

It is 5 1/2" closed and 10" open with a 4 5/16" blade. Blade is marked on one side Hubertus Of Solingen, Germany and ROSTFREI on the other side.

Nice knife, and over here you will be in deep troubles to own such a knife. It is forbidden since a few years to own leverlock knifes. The version with the wooden grips is going for $110.

Sorry, thats not the forbidden version. Forbidden are the ones where the blade pops out forwards!

That's to bad Gunner, I was in Lahr in 1980 and enjoyed wandering the marketstrasse and looking at all the spring operated knives. You say they were outlawed just a few years ago? I know when we were overseas we took leave in Germany and many men brought back such fine blades. They've been long since prohibited here in Canada.

Hi, you´ve been at Lahr, great! In that time i was at the Canadian barracks with my Dad´s cousin who worked at there for the Canadian Forces. Nice guys! The laws over here are mad., they´ve forbidden the spring operated knives, Butterfly knives and the carrying of knives with a blade of more than 10 or 12cm length. If anyone over here buys a good cookers knive with a blade of 20cm and he want carry it home, he have to put it into an lockable case or inform the police to carry this one to his house, if you will go strictly after the law. But no on does it and the police don´t really understand this law too.

We have a few laws like that here too. Like any part of the automatic weapon is the weapon. Anyway, gorgeous knife...

Nice Knife. Funny You could own these in Germany, and had a heluva time getting a firearm. Loved Lahr also. Spent three years in Pirmasens. Lovely area....

I am by no means an expert but I do have a modest collection of vintage automatic knives. I do know that generally, knives like this are separated into nation or origin for categorization. It is commonly believed that quality knives come from America, Germany, Italy and a few others but alot of people think the German knives, specifically Hubertus, are some of the best knives out there. I would guess that your knife is worth somewhere in the $175-$225 range to the right buyer.
