    FN-C1 scope mount top cover?

    Gentlemen,

I just returned from a gun show in Granton, Nova Scotia. Had a decent day over there and enjoyed the show. Picked up some vintage mil-surp .303 ammo, some reloading supplies, a cheap scope for my AR-15 and this:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this a C-1 Scope Mount for the FN-C1 rifle? It appears to be in un-issued condition. When I got it it was wrapped in paper. Any ideas as to what this is worth (other than what I paid for it)? Have any of you seen one of these for sale anywhere else? The only reference I can find on the web is at Marstar where they are listed for sale as a set along with the C-1 scope.

The mount sure does look like the C1 sniper scope base.I have one similar, but it is on a full length top cover.

That is a very desirable piece, especially to someone who has the scope but not the bracket. In discussion with some guys recently at the Calgary gun show, the number $400 was bantered about. Nice find. I know one or two guys in need of that mount....pretty sure they are not willing to part with the required coin, mind you.

    Mount

Mine must be an older version, no quick release lever, just a Weaver rail.

    Thanks for all the information.

While I do have an FN, it is an Indian 1A1 (not in the same class as an FN-C1 or L1A1, IMO) and putting this mount on that rifle seems like a bit of a waste. Not to mention I expect that a C-1 scope by itself is an expensive item so I rather doubt I'll end up with one of those anytime soon.

Finds like this are why I like going to gun shows. I happened to notice a guy unpacking some items so I hung around to see what he was putting on the table and ended up picking this up. Right place, right time.

I found a photo of this scope mount on a C1A1 with "Sniper Scope C1, Leitz Canadaicon" mounted to it.

See "Small Arms of the World", 12th edition, page 341.
