    Hihtlander, your pics don't come up, so I can't help a lot.

    The '91 was the standard long Rifle as used in the Great War. It had a barrel better than 30 inches long.

    Beginning in 1924, some of the older rifles were altered to Carbine length; the 91/24 was one of these. Barrels were chopped to 17.7 inches or replaced with 17.7-inch tubes (more likely the latter, owing to the Carcano's gain-twist rifling) and the rear-sight blade altered to compensate for the lower velocity which would result from the shorter barrel.
