Recieved my first Springfield Trainer today, a M2 with a 6-37 dated barrel. S/N is 14.426, reciever is marked Cal. .22 M2. Bolt is marked M2 under NS.

Stock is a cut down straight grip without finger clearance cuts. Shows FJA cartouche, P-Proof, ordnance wheel and something that appears to be the RA-P (raritan arsenal proof). Rifle is missing the Lyman rear sight. As the stock is not being cleared for that sight, I suppose the stock is not original to the rifle? Anyhow, it's got another marking, a small metal disc on the upside of the stock saying "525" (like some inventory number). Front sight is in a tunnel.

Any idea to that rifle, where has it been and were the stocks cut down or did someone else do that?

Thanks,

Georg
