Quite a few of the folks (not all) here are primarily collectors/shooters and doing the D&T thing to a collectable rifle rubs them the wrong way. Don’t get me wrong, it’s your rifle and yours to do with as you see fit. Keep in mind that after your done it’s collector value will be diminished considerably.
Having said that you should be able to see if it will fit by holding it up against the receiver with out any screws in it. If it were me I’d keep an eye out for one of the Parker Hale PH5A’s or AG Parker TZ models. No D&T and I suspect more elevation adjustment.
    Cheers

    Wink lyman 57

The lyman 57LE was for the Enfield mk1,2,3 and 4 & 5. not to be confused with other 57's. Information on lyman sights and fitting is well covered in Nick Stroebel's OLD GUNSIGHTS and RIFLE SCOPES.
The lyman 57SME fitted the 1914 and 1917 Enfields.
Though these sights were made to fit these firearms, they were not firearm specific, therefore the fitting left a lot to be desired, as did there appearence and functioning in relation to the Britishicon sights available at the time.
