New Carbine
I picked up a new Carbine at the Michigan Antique Arms Show a couple of weeks ago. *A re-parkerized "mix-master", but pretty nice. *Sorry, no pictures yet:
Receiver: S'G', 1860XXX, Square corner fixture hole, narrow tang
Stock: Low wood, oval Oiler openning, RSG over 2 4
Handguard: Two rivet, Deep sight channel, W on underside
Sling: "C" tip, Khaki, marked I.B.M over 1943 or 1945
Barrel: Type 1, PW in oval (under Type 3 band), measured just over "0" on my guage
Front Sight: Milled, "Thumbnail" shaped milling mark behind blade
Rear Sight: Type 2, Milled, adjustable, PI on both sides
Bolt: Type 2, Flat, 0 over N on left lug
Front Band: Type 3, JM
Oiler: SW in circle
Magazines: Five 15 round with Type 1 base, marked: (SP), G - Q, I.A., and A.I.(underlined) (two of these)
Magazines: Three 30 round hardback, marked: KI(or 1) over M2 (one) and SEY (two), Two 30 round splitback, marked: SEY, and Five 15 round with Type 1 base, marked: (SP), G - Q, I.A., and A.I.(underlined) (two of these)
Canvas Case: SHANE MFG. CO./ 1944
Bayonet: U.S.M4/ PAL, 96/ SP (intertwined) on hilt, "round head" pins, Leather grip
Sheath: U. S. M8A1/ B. M. CO.
Mag pouch: Two 15 round belt type and two 30 round 4 pocket
Ammunition: 210 rounds, Mosly FMJ, mixed markings: EC 43, LC 52, LC 53, LC 56, LC 67, PC 43 (SP reloads), WCC 45, WRA 30 CARBINE (HP, commercial)
