Hello Milsurp friends.....I picked up this 1903 Springfield at a gunshow in Lakeland, Fl recently. It was mounted in a sporter stock, but I saw that it could easily be put back in uniform. S/N 1416620 with SA 6-31 barrel attached. ME=1 on the standard .30 cal gage. After restocking into a pre-war C-stock that I had, it performed very well at 100 yards. I noticed that there was what looked like a punch mark on the rail about an inch or so behind the front reciever band. I've read that NM recievers may show this mark. The rails are not polished, but if pressed ito service, they may have been refinished. The overall finish on the reciever is like a matte black...barrell, too. Does not look reparked. It's not gray or green or any other of those identifiable reparked colors. Anyway...thanks for your help.Information
