U.S. M1917 bolts were not numbered to the rifle at the factory or U.S. installations. Those rifles with numbered bolts had the numbers added by users other than the US. I have a ex-Danish Eddystone with numbered stock and bolt, they match. The odds of the bolt matching are very high, as the bolts were not removed for commercial shipping across the Atlantic. (Ex-Danish M1
rifles returned to the U.S. Army were shipped back with numbered bolts removed and bulk packed.)

I've seen more nonmatching than matching.

I also have a ex-Danish Eddystone that came back with a numbered bolt but it happened to be a Winchester bolt that is not numbered to receiver. Rest of rifle is all Eddystone except one of the bands.

Does your Danish
M1917 have a S/N stamped into the underside of the butt of the stock?

I don't think I've ever seen a matching serial numbered bolt to a rifle in person. But most don't have the extra numbers on the bolts anyway.

You're talking now about the M1917s? Will have to check mine, I think I have an Eddystone M1917 with matching S/N.
€dit: checked all 7 of them. Just one where the S/N on the stock is matching the S/N on the receiver.

I have an Eddystone M1917 from 9-18 with matching numbers. The number is stamped on the underside of the bolt handle.
I bought it back in '85 here in Denmark
but I don't think it was one of the rifles issued to the Danish home guard (also known here as M53/17).

Promo... You mentioned you have 7 M1917's and doing research on the Danish
M1917. Has the front sight been changed on any of yours, as mine has been replaced with a Roll Pin type sight? I heard/read that some of the M1917's the Danish used changed the front sight for target shooting.
Also, my M1917 does not have any serial numbers stamped on the stock.
