    Yugo Bolt Question

I have a fairly decent M24/47. I have no desire to "Bubba" it, but I wanted to scope it so I used a scout scope setup that replaces the rear sight ladder with a Picatinny rail. Works fine, and it can be returned to original configuration in a few minutes.

But ... I don't care for the straight bolt. Aesthetically, I prefer the look of the turned-down bolts on the M48s and K98s. Does anyone know if either an M48 or a K98icon bolt would fit an M24/47? (Subject, of course, to headspacing concerns -- I'm mostly concerned with the nominal length of the bolt.)

    Thanks.

A Yugoicon 48 might work but a Germanicon 98k bolt will not. The Yugo m48 is short action, while the German 98K is long action. I am not sure, if the Yugo m24/47 is long action or short action.

Technically these are referred to as "intermediate" length action Mausers.

There you have it. Theoretically, one could find an m48 bolt on the loose or take a 24/47 bolt and turn down the handle while keeping the original one. Be wary of headspace and check after you swap the bolts round.

Probably easier to find an aftermarket bent down bolt body/handle and put it together with all the original parts that way you don't have to worry about headspace.

Sounds promising. Any suggestions where to start looking for a spare bolt body -- or just haunt the gun shows (which are infrequent around here)?

Here is a link to an ebay auction ending in a few days for a straight bolt body for your rifle. I would prefer a new bolt body if I was doing it for myself, if the numbers on the bolt match any other numbers on the gun.
