    Thanks to all. It's still a work in progress. I still need to get a tripod and the lighting should be less an issue.

    By the way, does the number on the butt ( 4 2 10) seem like a rack number or more like a date Oct 42? And we know SA never marked stocks like this even as I trial?

    Question...this Lock bar sight should be a 1 but I think its not as the pinion if short (in the pics I've seen) would be much deeper? I'm still trying to understand the difference. I would think that it would be common to have had it switched ( sight upgraded ) if the rifle saw war service and this may explain the stock having been switched at that time though the wood looks to all be matching and what are the odds of them getting the 3 matching stock pieces back on the rifle unless all wood of that period very closely matched.
