I got this from a buddy at work and had some questions. It is a Saginaw with Marlin barrel. Bolt and Op slide are Inland. Trigger housing is Winchester. The receiver was badly pitted, and than Parkerized. It has no Import marks, and I have no idea where it came from. It does have a pot belly stock, bayo lug & other post WWII rebuild parts.

Based on the condition of the receiver, is this something the US military would have kept in service? Or could this have been refinished by another nation? Is there any problem with shooting this with the receiver so pitted?

Anyone know what the 9 on the housing stands for?

The only mark on the stock is a number 3 on the heel. Anyone know of any Country that marked M1icon carbines this way? There is no signs of Korean marks on the stock.

Thanks.
