Does anyone know how the Long Lee Enfield is bedded at the muzzle end of the Fore-end.

On all of mine, the barrel has laid flat in the barrel channel for the whole length. At the front, the muzzle cap apparently is supposed to hold the barrel down against the forend. I've had a couple of target Long Lees where a thin piece of tape has been put under the top of the nosecap to fill the small gap and push the barrel down.

Thats exactly whats on the one I have, there a thin slither of cork under the top of the nose cap pushing the barrel down in to the fore-end, if I remove the cork the barrel pushes up into the top of the nosecap clear of the fore-end.

On all my rifles, the barrel and wood allow a crisp dollar bill to be slid between the stock and barrel, around the barrel and out the other side. This can be slid up and down the barrel. There is no filler. On my target grade Long Lee, the wood and barrel are tighter than bark on a tree. No movement of the barrel within the forearm. The rifle is accurate though and will group five rounds a little over an inch at 100 yards.
