Spotted Long Branch micrometer rear sight yesterday

I was in a local gun ship yesterday, and they had a sporterized (only wood chopped, fortunately) Fazakerley (I think) No.4 Mk.1 that, surprise, surprise, had a Long Branch Mk.1 rear sight fitted. They wanted $199 for the rifle. I am tempted to buy the rifle and put it back to its former glory, but is there anyone who is looking for a LB Mk.1 rear sight? I checked Ebay, and prices for those rear sights are all over the pleace.

I could use it. I have a Fazackerley Mk1 sight I could swap with you if you decide to buy the rifle.

I needed one for my '41 LB a few months back and when one finally came up for auction, the bidding got crazy and I ended up overpaying for it. Soon after, it seemed like every other day they were appearing on various sites for sale and as spinecracker stated, they were/are all over the place as far as price.

Boy, am I out of it - it was a 1942 Maltby - I had to scrub a little dirt off lol. 2 groove barrel, serial numbers on the bolt, magazine and barrel match the receiver, bluing not messed with, no visible evidence of any FTR, didn't immediately see an import mark (apart from the pre-1968 "Englandicon" mark). Unfortunately, it needs a full set of wood and all the related metal parts (butt plate, upper and lower bands, retaining rings, associated screws). I can talk them down to $175 (no other costs as I have my C&R), but I wonder if it is worth it, based on what it will cost to put it back to military configuration, even with trying to offset the cost by selling the LB rear sight (low on funds right now - but I just had to buy that Savage .308 FLCP-K...and the left handed AR15...). Any idea if Maltby was putting serial numbers of their forends in 1942?

Yes, forearms are numbered on '42 Maltby rifles.
