    Rockola Carbine

It is a slow day today, so I thought I would post some pictures of my Rockola. It is a typical run of the mill carbine.

I would have agreed with that being a standard run if the mill carbine in 1943. As my dealer says. Rare??? They made 6 million of them. Yeah it looks like a plain old $2000+ carbine. Hear tell the gunshows have lots of them laying around. By the way damn nice looking rock.

    Yep Pretty Average..........
Real Un-touched real ones are so common
But, Just to note a few things... that well... your's is lacking..
No bayonet band scars on the barrel
No sanding or nice glossy True oil or varnish on the stock, no later style barrel band scars on the nose of the stock. The Buttplate doesn't have the overhang, we've come to see so often.
The Ordnance stamp looks nothing like the ones that seller in Ca sells, or the S-T-B guy on GB. Yours hows a impression in the wood, a line under the CC that makes the stamp used look like it was a one piece stamp....... HUH, odd. Most show the cannons pointing in a far different direction !! And the RMC letters and Flame are so different on the others.
The Frt sight hasn't been removed, plus this Current sight doesn't match the other metal finish like the really nice 'Originals' ( on GB)
No fresh reparking of the finish
No present or removed Armory, Serial numbers or inspection P stamp markings, What's up with that?
Doesn't have the cool lube/drain hole on the Trigger housing, or that sweet Purple color.
    No cast recoilplate or trigger.
Doesn't have the rotary safety and the mag catch with the support arm for 30rd mags.
And I can't see the Import stamp, Dowel rod or brass pin repairs, I mean come on man !
I mean no offense, but if it's the best you've run across, I'm happy for you.
We all have to start some where.
I'm pretty sure it's Probably worth the $200-$300 you paid for it.
Oh Oh Oh and let me guess... Your's probaly doesn't have those cool modifications to the trigger housing to add all those other parts to make it run faster, am I right???
I can see it's an oddball, but the main thing is that your Happy ;-)

But even after taking all this into account, and that it lacks these sweet upgrades, it should make for a nice shooter.

Just for kicks, I'd still be interested in:
The serial number range and what style RMC buttplate is on it?

    Thx for sharing it.

    Cheers,
    Charlie-painter777

P.S. Hey Tony....... Absolutely Outstanding....... Congrats
Does the CC have a Data sheet on it?

A LGS (learned that from Jim!) has an "original" Rockola on display. It's complete with bayonet lug, flip safety, adjustable rear sight, and a "pot belly" stock - even comes with a repro sling and oiler. It's on consignment from an "advanced collector." I'd like to see your "run of the mill" in a side by side comparison with his!

That is one neat carbine! - Bob

So what is the story of this Carbine. It almost looks like it was unissued. Looks like it was never used in civilian life by anyone either. What is its story and history that you have? The stock looks like it never had a oiler in it ever. What is the serial number range? Nice Carbine Thanks

Story on this one is real simple. About 15-20 years ago it was brought from a dealer at a gun show by a friend of mine. The dealer brought it to him as he knew he liked carbines. The dealer paid 500.00 for it. My friend paid 1500.00 for it. I spoke to my friend a few years ago(3) as he needed some money due to medical problems and we established a price. It was considerably more than 1500.00 for it. The other reason I brought it was that my Grandmother worked as an assembler at Rockola during the war. I have a late 6 million almost as good and a 4 million in about 97% condition. I am looking for a 1.6 million I cut Rockola to complete the series anyone help me here?
