No4MK1 Pics and questions

I just picked up another No4 MK1 today at a town flea/yardsale event, I have been looking for a stock set for a No4 MK1 "T" I dug up a few months ago, But I found this instead, It is a No4 MK1 with matching #s throughout, Everything #rd the same, It is the newest one I own being made in 1949, It appears to have been fired VERY little,
I am wondering about the C with arrow, Seems to be facing the wrong direction for a Canadian rifle???
And I looked here and other places, What does the "PF" mean as far as where it was made?
I would like to find a bayonet,, Where?
Please tell me what you can about this bugger!



I got this one for 180 with about 20, 303 blanks, It appears to be like new, Still some cosmoline in and around the screws and bolt and sight assy.

(F) for Fazakerley, PF is the serial prefix. It isn't a "C", its a "U". No reference books handy, but IIRC, that's for Union of South Africa.

Definitely South African....nice piece, I wish I still had my South African Enfield.....from the days when South Africa was a clean, safe, beautiful country....not like it is now!

Yours is a few months newer than mine. I have a No. 4 Mk 1(F) dated 9/48 that was also South African issue and the bore is really nice. Your stock is all matching, but mine had a beechwood buttstock (which I kept) and really bad walnut forestock & handguards which I replaced with a new beechwood set. The metal finish on yours is better than mine, and I'm considering re-blueing it as it's a super shooter and will do basically one hole groups at 50 yards. Enjoy it.
