Help: Mk 1 No4* Savage Rear Sight

I need some help on putting the rear sight back to original. The problem is trying to find the split pin or small pin to hold the rear sight base pin in place. I don't find them available so I am sure that someone has come up with a solution. Can you help, I have a feeling I am going have why didn't I think of that momen?

You can use any small pin that has approximately the right length and width: I use either tiny metal nails (used in model boat building) from a hobby shop, or even sections of wire from a large paperclip....

You could try a clock supply house as well. I believe R&M Imports has tapered pins. randmimports.com. Cas-ker is a watch supply house they may have them too.
