This is the solution given by an old Wehrmacht armourer. Apparently K89k hoods were commonly used with the grip surface ground to fit the 33/40.

That's great information, I was wondering how I could replace the one missing from my 33/40.

It took me many years to find an original front sight cover for my 33/40, it came from a collectorAttachment 38369Attachment 38370Attachment 38371

I still need the correct cleaning rod
