Remington Sniper M91 on gunbroker. Historically legit?
Remington Mosin Nagant 1917 Sniper : Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com
Were any of the Remington contract rifles turned into snipers like this? Was the PU scope developed early enough for this rifle? I'm trying to research it on 7.62x54r.net, but I'm having trouble accessing the site. Is this a historically accurate sniper model or someones fudgery?

I doubt it.

Definitely not.

It worked for me - at least, 5 minutes ago!

I fear it's a case of the F-word.
Of course, I may be completely wrong.
BTW
The fore-end has been grafted onto the back end of the stock. Treat it with extreme suspicion. The word "bitsa" comes to mind-

If that doesn't scream "fake" to you, well it should...

Haha, I feel silly now. I thought it was definitely odd. Oh well it looks like I'll be looking to rguns for my MN sniper instead.

No reason to feel silly. In fact, you were smart, and asked before buying. There are untold thousands of fake Mosin snipers around, so when you find what looks like a good one - ask again - before buying!

Well now that that's clarified up, I found a more promising listing on gunbroker at this link: Mosin Nagant 91/30 Sniper Rifle : Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com
. I understand that with auction sites, it's always a slight gamble. This one has features I haven't seen before, but I still question it. All the serials on the rifle match, including the scope mount which is stamped rather than force matched with an electric pencil. It's a 1940 rifle, but the PU scope wasn't developed until 1942 according to 7.62x54r.net. The scope mount also appears to have an Izhevsk mark as well. What do ya'll think about this one?

Rguns is the best way to get a fully authenticated M91/30 PU Sniper!!!!
I myself have no doubt there are some real seal PU's out there for much cheaper. But with a low price tag. Makes you wonder if real or fake!

The sale text states
"Up for sale is a mosin nagant Sniper PU model 91/30. A high quality, one of those that have been imported a while back with properly made scope mounts and built as sniper according to original arsenal specs." (my italics)
In other words, it is NOT an original M91/30 sniper.
Even without this text, you would have to ask yourself "Why doesn't the seller have a good photo of the scope, showing the number and date, when he even has a photo of the buttplate and magazine cover numbers?"
Keep trying - they're out there, somewhere!

I did notice that strange. I messaged the seller, but I got back a vague unhelpful response so I was turned off by it pretty quick.
