Finnish M39

I picked up this M39. Only the bolt and barrel match and the leather sling looks original. Strangely, the replacement barrel is marked 1968. Can't wait to shoot it.

You may have one of those, rebarrelled as a target rifle. In which case, you are really, really lucky. It is probably an A1 shooter!

Thanks Patrick. It may be set for match shooting for I forgot to mention the tigger is very sensitive.

...And please check the bore dimensions: lands AND groove diameters!

Although the M39s, as built, typically had a .310" groove, if your rifle was rebarrelled as a target rifle, then the new barrel may be much tighter - nearer to a standard .308" groove. Cramming a .310/.311" bullet down a .308" groove is a bad idea. And having a .308" rattling down .310" grooves leads to lousy shooting.

Skip, thats a beautiful rifle! I'm new to the M/N world but love the Finns. The grain on that stock is awesome! Let us know how she shoots.
