    M1 garand springfield armory barrel serial id

    Hi,this is my new toy so i check everything,am looking to undestand the barrel serial,i look around couldnt found the right information ,thank for you help.

    The MD 49 is the "heat lot" or batch code of the steel used. SA kept track of this datum on the key parts (receiver, bolt, barrel) so all parts made from that batch could be identified if a problem developed later. The F6535448 is the "drawing number" or blueprint. Minus the size letter, the number also became the unique part identifier for barrels.
    Real men measure once and cut.
