I have a 1911-A1 that began to act up (seize). The slide began to not close completely/not at all. I disassembled it and found that the lug had increased in width and was causing the problem. I filed the slight flange that was forming and things went back to normal I do not use warm loads; casts in fact...the RCBS 225 grain RN with 4.0 grains of Red Dot, but it appears that some "battering" was taking place. What is the recommended remedy for treating this? A stiffer recoil spring or a "buffer"? Is it a commonplace occurrence with 1911's? Thanks for any advice. J. CooperInformation
