N°2A MkIII Ishapore
Hello,
I've got a N°2 Mk III Ishapore cal 7.62x51 Nato.
Shoots to high.
Could you tell me what fore sight I have to change to correct?
I've been told N°2 MK III do not have same foresight than N°1MKIII.
True or not?
So what to choose
N° 4MK 1 or N°1MKIII ,??
Regards

I used MkIII foresight blades on mine, shimmed tight with metal foil
Do you know how big an increase in blade height you require? You might find that you run out of sizes in the standard rifle series, and need a taller one from the Sten gun sizes.

The "mil-spec" front sight blades for SMLEs came in at least eight heights,
Actually, the "issue" blades themselves are all the same height from the bit that dove-tails into the "Block, Band" that, in turn, is keyed and pinned to the barrel. The height variation was achieved by varying the base thickness.
They should be numbered and the difference is fairly obvious in the thickness of the "base" part.
There are also "range pattern" blades around. These extend the range of heights somewhat, as well as having nifty features like undercut rear faces to eliminate glint from sunlight and an extra, tiny, vertical rib on the rear face of the blade. Many shooters painted this little rib white as a visual aid.
Are you using "NATO spec" ball? If not, then that may explain your problem. Wonky bedding is another problem.
You can do some basic geometry (similar triangles) to calculate the current angle and the height required to achieve correct impact for a particular sight setting.
SMLE blades run from -0.060" to +0.045" from the "nominal" blade, which, unsurprisingly, is called a "0" blade.
Once you do the sums, if you are in Australia
, get onto Alan at Kingaroy Firearms for a start. He probably has a few of them.

Rule 1-2-3-4
To find the value of a 1 MOA sight change.,
measure the distance between the 2 sights.
Multiply that by 3.
Move the decimal point 4 places left.
In more technical terms: Sight radius X tangent of 1 MOA = Sight change. (Tangent of 1 MOA is .000291)
For example: 21" sight radius X .000291 = .006"

Hi,
thank for replies
I use NATO spec ammo.
At 50 yards I shoot ( If I remenber well) about 5" too high.
Don't remenber what blade I have on my rifle. I'll check that this evening

The FIRST rule is this. KISS - Keep it simple stupid and remember this. FORESIGHT INTO THE ERROR. BACKSIGHT OUT OF THE ERROR.
Next, we need to see how accurate your rifle is. Fire two warmers into the bank at 25 yards and then a group of 7 rounds, with the forearm or wrist rested OR, ask a friend who is a known good shot do it, using EXACTLY the same point of aim each time. If you are using NATO spec ball, make sure that it's the same batch
Ignore the outermost 'flyer' and come back and tell us the size of the group. Only then we'll really be able to tell you a few things about your rifle.
Accuracy isn't the same as ability on inability to zero. Just my 2c's worth as a bit-part Armourer

Hi,
I'm back with more details.
Got back to the shooting range to check.
My shoots are 2" too hight at 25 yards. ( 10rounds in a square 1"x1")
3" too hight at 50yards.
I did forget to check the size of the blade
