This is my Longbranch no4 mk1 T sniper. I found the scope and mount then went after the rifle. Found it. This is not a matched pair although both are correct. here are pictures. I use a "T" transit case.

I had a request for a detailed scope picture. here it is Hugh.... the scope and mount are matched..

How do you know that the scope and mount are a matched pair if the rifle (that will hold both serial numbers) is not the original? Or am I missing something? I ask as we found that due to the optical geometry, the telescopes were easy to interchange whereas the brackets were the fly in the ointment!

they came to me together in the can. I did not acquire the scope and then the mount. ". The rifle is a Longbranch "T" that I acquired to fit the scope /mount on. Meaning, in this instance I did your job. gary

Ah, got it........ To be honest, I know people whinge and squeal about mismatched this that and the other but I always say that what's the difference between an Armourer slogging over matching up a bracket/scope to a rifle in his Base workshop and a competent fitter doing the same in his home workshop?

Just so long as the scope graticle has been optically centered in the optical axis of the tube and then that assembly has been fitted so as to be correctly collimated to the rifle bore......., what's the problem with WHOEVER did it?

After all, we KNOW that we did it because the world is littered with re-numbered butts and correctly fitted scopes/brackets.

Whoops, I had to check my butt number. It is "780". my scope number is 277-C . Now I know the original scope to rifle number. anybody want to trade?

Your scope is only seven off of the one that used to reside on my Canadian "T". Unfortunately, it remains scopeless.

The cap screws I can see in the photo appear loose. If you didn't loosen them I would suspect the scope may not be original to that bracket, not that it really matters. Congrats on a nice find.

I notice the Canadian soft case has a rubber bumper and a properly printed label, rather than a handwritten one. I always wondered why the UK cases didn't.
