Can you tell if this phone is from the military?

Hi, I'm a new member. I want to ask if anyone recognizes the pictures I've attached. I got it at an estate auction and the owner was very involved in the Navy in WWII. I don't know if this phone device was from the military or what. I'd appreciate any input.

I look like it might be an acoustic coupler to me. I'd say not military though.

I would say no based solely on the case it's in, leather just doesn't seem military issue..

I beg to differ WWII US Signal Corps Field telephones were indeed leather cased.

Yes, but this case looks like a suitcase not something made for field use. Just my opinion..
