    Sure does. You can just make out the grooved HG clip at the tip of the corporal's finger and see the flush nut sight. It is my understanding that often times a dated photo may not be the actual date but more reflect the signal corps release date. April of 1943 seems a wee bit late to still be seeing such early features???

    I suppose anything could be Bill, but many of us here can show such a rifle today, and remember the stories of original gas trap rifles coming out of NG armories well after the war. After Korea too...

    But...this pic IS the USMC...they had a habit of using their equipment...

    I saw the flush nut, but couldn't make out the grooved clip.
