When was my 5.7 mil Winchester made?

I was wondering about my Winchester 5,701,xxx. WHen was it made? I thought someone told me in my original post in August that it was around August, 1944. I looked, but haven't found it. It is transitional with adjustable rear sight and Type II band, so I would think around summer 1944.

Not saying the carbine was completed, but the receiver was stamped May 20, 1944. The receivers stamped that day were from 5,700,290 to 5,702,818

This comes out of "War Baby III" on page 1132

Thanks. I wonder how many carbines Winchester assembled in a day? Mine would have been over 1,000 numbers in that sequence.

That was "receiver serial numbers" rolled on, not the day the carbine was completed. If you do the math, they marked 2,528 receivers that day. I don't know how long the work day was, or if they had more then one shift going.

War Baby III has it by day for Winchester only. I assume that were the only records Larry could verify as correct. Straight from their files. I think it is pretty darn cool too.
