Typical Goverment Mentality.
Surfing the AWM looking for info as usual, came across these pic's.

Now why we had to use these fool things I don't know, makes me wonder, when we had already played with the No.6, we should have manufactured more.
I know this is just before we changed to the L1A1, but fair suck of the sav, what's the point of having your own Manufacturing capability and then not using it.
You'd have fond memories of this place Pete, hot and steamy, fishheads and rice

Picture 2 looks like the ranges at the old Terendak base. And there's a saying that you go to war with what you've got. What you want comes later...............

I was very under the weather when I wrote that and laminated it after a rather large engagement that night with JD & Cola but I can live with it, but thanks for pointing that glitch out

To be really brutally honest, as I tend to be occasionally, the L2 wasn't exactly a whole heap of laughs either. Nothing but mechanical trouble after trouble and poor reliability. Especially after what went before it - if that makes sense!
Re Muffers suggestion about equipping soldiers in the Far East with the No6 rifle. But who'd supply the Malay Army, the Gurkhas, the Poms/ Fijians, Rhodesians (who were there in the mid 50's), Malay Police Singapore Army and Police, NZers.......? The list goes on and on and on. All in all, for the short ranges it was used at, it didn't do too badly. Not too much was expected of it but it gave that little, quite well. Just my 2c's worth Muffer!
Am I right about Terendak ranges Muffer? There's the range road in the background and the hills leading to the jungle and mountains in the background. Then behind the camerman, a slope away to wherever and then the sea! Pic 2. Note the crunchie with those canvas and rubber jungle boots on

Yes, it helps hide the taste of the JD.
