A 'one in a million' chance but I have to try

Hi all. I, after many years, have decided to try and find an item that was my father's that symbolized his time in Vietnam. He was a mortarman in the 7th Marines, 2nd Battalion, Echo Company and actively served all of 1967 before being stationed in the states in January of 1968. Of all of the things my dad regretted not sneaking off base with to bring home were his 1911 (which I might never find) and his helmet, which I am trying to find. I know any ol Veitnam era infantry helmet would probably do but I would love to see if anyone has at least seen or has this helmet and liner or even just has seen or has the liner. Since he is getting up there in age I figured I would try and find it for him so that he could see it again in his lifetime. Here is a picture of my dad with his helmet for comparison. Thanks everyone and when I get a new purchase I'll post it up for everyone to see.

Wow, that's a great pic of your dad. Did you have any luck finding a helmet?

Update: I can't believe it!!!!!! I finally found my dad's helmet with the help of some kind of divine intervention. It has been in North Carolina this whole time and much thanks goes to the gentleman, whom I want to keep anonymous out of respect for his privacy, who saved this piece from being destroyed back in 68 when my dad came home. I got it just before Father's Day and gave it to my dad for a present. After he opened it and saw what the helmet was he actually started to cry which for being an old marine is something I have only ever seen him do three times in my whole life. Now he has his helmet back and I can pass this along with his other gear through the family. Thanks everyone for keeping up with this post.

Perhaps a mathmatician could calculate the odds which would have a lot of zeros to the left of the decimal point. Great ending thanks for posting!
