Push pin instead of oiler?

Anybody know any details about this? There is a spring loaded pin in place of the oiler, it looks like it is designed to be there, there is a small hole on top of the butt stock to push it out and there are recesses that it rests in. It's a Winchester stock but I don't know if it's post ww2, Korea, or later. Any clues would be appreciated. Attachment 49344

Thanks, it was a pain to get out, haven't seen another like it. It must have been made that way, the holes are too precise, and must have taken a special tool to countersink the ends inside the slot. I have been a carpenter all my life and would have to scratch my head to do that with normal tools. It's a weird one.
