    A Heads Up

    Many here will remember a thread started by a fellow called GlennW who was writing a book on the history of sniping in the Oz Army and posted here looking for assistance.

    Use of Brit SMLE No.4 Mk.1 T by Aust Army in WWII

    Glenn is thankful for the education he received from the Milsurps community and is pleased to announce the book has finally been published.

    For those that may be interested, it is available here;

    Big Sky Publishing

    Please note, any factual errors in regard to the Lee Enfield side of things within the book are to be attributed to the printer, not the contributors or proof readers

    For the record, I have no financial involvement in the book or it's marketing.

    I wonder if he recalls or knows that in Malaya in the 60's in 4 and 8 RAR we had No4T rifles. They were a bit of an enigma really and I was the only bloke that knew about them. They weren't ever (?) used so far as I can recall so they were just in their boxes in the Company Armouries getting covered in mildew! The leather slings were absolutely minging in the stuff! Johnny Cotterell the Armourer Sgt said that they were issued because we got a large % of our kit/vehicles/ammo/OG uniforms from pooled Ordnance stocks. We also had .303 and L4 Brens but M-60 machine guns. Soon to be replaced with GPMG's
