a rather basic question, is the gap behind the kingscrew bush a factory thing or a break that needs repairing?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. But just a minor correction first. The king screw is nothing of the sort. It is simply the front trigger guard screw. Yes, there is a gap in the wood behind it. But not on the No4. That weak point was well noted and was one of the first things designed out of the No1 during the design of the No4

    Great stuff posted.

Peter did not have to share that story but I'm glad he did. Now I don't feel so alone for range gaffs.

    My Coach wood stock.

MJ, don't take this personally, but that's crap.
