Possible French Kerosene Railroad lantern or European lantern...

Circa 1880? Has ETRETAT No 5 on the front. Several experts in the US cannot ID it.

Has four dimples on bottom for standing? Hand hold is too close to burner vent to hand carry.

I was hoping that some of our European members might have seen something like this or know of some place I could send the images to. The Frenchicon town of ETRETAT does not have a museum. Thanks!!

    Kerosene is "pétrole" in France.

Pic 4 shows I think the stabdard abreveation of the Frenchicon patent mark Breveté SGDG "Brevete San Garantie Du Governement" means "Patent without the Government guarantee" I think indicates a patent pending. The patent system starting in 1791.
Do a French google.fr search on the Breveté SGDG or just S.G.D.G.

If you think it is to do with trains then contact this place. Home | Cité du Train : Site officiel - géré par Culturespaces, Mulhouse

If to do with cars then this place
Cité de lAutomobile - Home | Cité de l'Automobile : Collection Schlumpf - Site officiel - gérée par Culturespaces, M

Both are in the same town, visited them both,
the car museum has an interesting story behind it.

It has been 2 weeks since I sent the images to the Frenchicon director of the train museum. No response but that is ok.
