    Sometimes you get lucky.......

Found this today on the way home from work. An ALL matching, full mummed Type 38. By all matching I mean even the dust cover. Along with original cleaning rod and original sling. A true bring back, I'd wager. All for the princely sum of $225. I imagine the sling alone is worth that. Anyone able to translate the characters?
This is either a Koishikawa or Kokura...I cannot match the series symbol with anything I see on the net. Enjoy the pics!

Numbers on the sling? 305? 503?

Wow!!! What a great score! Your type 38 is just like my type 38 school rifle but mine doesn't match (mismatched bolt but other than that everything matches) and is missing its cleaning rod, dust cover, and sling. Mine is a Tokyo arsenal made sometime in the early to mid 1910s since it has no series mark. I have an original cleaning rod for it coming to me tomorrow at work thanks to one of my fellow collectors/coworkers and since it's mismatched anyway I found a dust cover from another local collector to go with it. Yours truly is a bring back survivor.

Congratulations!!! That is a bases loaded grand slam home run! I don't believe you could find a nicer example. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I am extremely jealous right now. Truly a beautiful example of a Type 38 Arisakaicon.
