No. 4, Mk. 1 / No. 5, Mk. 1 Lee Enfield Sighting Training Aid

Thought I would show you this nifty sighting aid. I don't know the age of it or who made it, but it did come out of the UKicon.

By loosening the wing-nut you can alter the foresight position and the backsight peephole. I would assume the coach would alter this aid to show the shooter what their sight picture looked like when using an Aim Corrector on the rifle?

Anyone used one of these aids or know of it?

I've never seen one. I can't see the point of the adjustable foresight either. The point of such a mechanism, in my opinion, would be that it should be set or fixed in the correct position. That being with the tip of the foresight in the centre of the round aperture. THAT is the picture you want the recruit to learn, see, - and then achieve.

The recruit doesn't use the aim corrector surely......... The instructor lays alongside and peeps thyrough the aim corrector to see what picture the recruit is seeing.

Can't say that we ever used them when I was a Cadet because we were all taught the standard Army method. Anyone else out there................
